All Villages Burning – A CGJ Submission from Team Fluffopotamus

All Villages Burning is a board game about the defense of a fantasy medieval Finland against a marauding monster known as Balavaho. It adapts GMT Games’ “COIN Series” system, with the intent to introduce the series to families. In All Villages Burning, three players each take the role of one of the three factions: the heroes of the realm (Lilliana, Michelle, and Royce), the Army, or the Villagers. During the game, the marauding Balavaho will travel across the land, destroying forts and villages, and killing anyone foolish enough to cross its path. Players use actions (both major and minor) as well as movement abilities unique to each faction to further their goals. The heroes of the realm seek to complete quests and battle Balavaho to gain honor. The Army knows that the only way to stop the creature to establish military control across the land and build up its defenses. And the Villagers do their best to stay alive, avoiding Balavaho’s fury at all costs.

No Tan Libre – A CGJ Submission from Team Chimoceros

No Tan Libre is a 2 player game inspired by a mashup of Science Fiction genres, heavily influenced by satirical films such as Escape from New York, Running Man, RoboCop, and pretty much any major disaster movie. It places its settings in the 22nd century where global warming has run amok, the oceans are significantly higher, and hurricanes happen each week. The game uses the Jams theme of recycling a COIN game. We’ve chosen Cuba Libre for its setting which fit perfectly…”The year is 2100, and Cuba has been turned into a maximum security prison. “

A Woman’s Resolve – A CGJ Submission from Team Goleling

The goal of this design was to create a simple game, with no new components, that simulates Boudica’s uprising against the Romans and demonstrates how her drive on Londinium, lack of supporting uprisings, and overconfidence in battle, led to a poor result historically. It is my hope that players use the game to develop superior strategies to Boudica’s and to develop a better understanding of the conflict.

Poké Libre is a rethemeing of the GMT COIN game Cuba Libre in the Pokémon universe for 1-3 players. It wasn’t long before the industrialists who funded that research began making claims. The world watched as they built up the Capital City. As their researchers continue to search for legends, two more cities are being developed to attract the pilgrims that are pouring in. But Bacu was not uninhabited. It’s indigenous population turned into research subjects and indentured into the service of transients. A small contingent among them is organizing to reclaim their lands and free themselves.
